Instead of writing a lengthy introduction, I figured we’d just jump right into it, especially since we’re already two road trips behind!  If you’d like some more information about us, please visit the About page by clicking here.

Our first road trip was up to Wisconsin Dells, a common retreat for Chicagoans but completely unknown to the rest of the world (except for the seemingly out of place Japanese tourists).

We actually spent the first day about 45 minutes away from the Dells at a great place called House on the Rock.  It starts as just a wonderfully eccentric house but continues to expand into several warehouse-sized buildings full of very elaborate collections.  We stayed at the unique Don Q Inn, as my family has many times before.  The huge fireplace surrounded by old dentist chairs, over-sized stable rooms, and indoor/outdoor swim-under-the-wall pool are sights to see in and of themselves.

In the morning, we headed for a fun-filled day in Wisconsin Dells.  We started off with a relaxing Upper Dells boat tour, that included two excellent walking tours among natural rock formations that the Dells are famous for.  After strolling around the town’s small shops for a while, we then took a ride on an Original Wisconsin Duck, a must-do for every Dells trip.  We finished off the night with some mini-golfing and swimming at the hotel.  In the morning, we capped off the trip with an obligatory visit to Paul Bunyan’s (forget the new IHOP across the street!).

Well, that’s it for the first post.  Details of our other road trip will be coming soon, as well as another large trip that is currently in the works.  Here’s to many, many, many future travels together!
